Even more about the US downgrade

S&P said this, bolding mine:

The political brinksmanship of recent months highlights what we see as America’s governance and policymaking becoming less stable, less effective, and less predictable than what we previously believed. The statutory debt ceiling and the threat of default have become political bargaining chips

And now this is reported in Politico:

A stopgap spending bill to keep the government funded past Sept. 30 collapsed in the House late Wednesday in a return of the same brinkmanship politics that so soured voters on Congress in the debt fight over the summer.

I really wish I was quoting a humourous story in, say, The Onion, but, alas, this is all too real.
